Looking back at #3 Apple Admin Day for enterprise

On January 29, 2026, the next continuation of the Mac as a Choice: Enterprise Edition professional workshop took place in the premises of Worklounge Příkopy. The meeting focused on Apple device management in the corporate environment attracted IT architects, security specialists and decision makers from banking, telecommunications and technology companies.

The third edition was even more specific than the previous ones. The discussion was in the spirit of real numbers, experience from large organisations and a clear assessment of benefits and risks.

As always, the whole day was excellently guided by Ondřej Kubeček, Sales Director of System4, who moderated the event and connected the individual blocks into a logical and dynamic whole.

Who spoke

The programme offered a combination of strategic insight and deep technical expertise:

  • Martin Berdych, CTO of Česká spořitelna – transformation project “Mac as a choice”
  • Mischa van der Bent, Jamf – Manager Consulting Engineering for EMEIA region
  • Elmo Kuisma, Jamf – Sales Engineer for MEA and CEE regions
  • Martin Kup, Vodafone – experience from development practice in a large company
  • Ladislav Blažek, Technical Director of System4 – Apple Technical Trainer with 20 years of experience
  • Martin Tvrdý, System4u – expert in UEM solutions (Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Omnissa)
  • Roman Přikryl, System4u – Identity and Security Specialist

Topics that drive enterprise IT today

Mac as a choice and Mac Readiness

The introductory session focused on the strategy of allowing employees to choose their work equipment. Macs are increasingly becoming the preferred choice – whether for developers, management or marketing teams.

It was noted that when employees have a choice, a significant number of them prefer Mac over Windows. This trend is no longer a question of image, but of working comfort, stability and performance.

The discussion focused on the issue of organisational readiness – how to set up processes, onboarding, identity management and security to ensure a managed and controlled transition.

The session also included an introduction of System4 as a certified Apple Premium Technical Partner, confirming deep technical expertise in Apple device management.

The economics of Mac: a look at the real costs

One of the most powerful moments of the day was the debate on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

Macs can be cheaper than traditional models when factoring in the entire life cycle of the device. The savings come from several factors:

  • faster and automated deployment,
  • macOS integrated security,
  • lower energy consumption,
  • fewer support tickets,
  • higher residual values of the equipment,
  • longer hardware life.

The decision-making thus shifts from the level of the purchase price to the level of the long-term economics of operation.

The story of Česká spořitelna: transformation without resistance

Martin Berdych, CTO of Česká spořitelna, gave a very specific view.

It was crucial that the project did not encounter resistance from management. The strategic decision was supported by data and a clear vision.

One of the key steps was the consolidation of facilities. Many employees previously used two devices – for example, a standard work laptop and another device for development or specific tools. The move to Macs has consolidated this to one device.

The result was:

  • reducing hardware costs,
  • simplifying operations,
  • longer equipment life cycle,
  • higher work efficiency.

The higher purchase price of the Mac was offset by the elimination of a second device and longer usage time.

The biggest challenge: security and data protection

Safety was also the most frequently mentioned challenge in the participant poll.

Meeting security standards – i.e., encryption, policy management, MDM, and data protection – is considered the biggest challenge. Thus, security remains the dominant issue when deploying Macs in enterprise environments.

Integration with corporate applications came in second place. This confirms that the device itself is not the problem – the key is its proper integration into the identity management, compliance framework and application infrastructure.

The next ranks were knowledge of Mac management concepts and Zero-Touch onboarding preparation. User experience and support processes ranked lower, indicating that the Mac is no longer perceived as complicated from an operational perspective.

In the case of Česká spořitelna, the biggest challenge was data protection. The discussion focused on finding a balance between security and user experience.

Safety must not hinder efficiency. If it is too restrictive, users look for ways around it. The goal is therefore a managed model that combines Zero Trust principles with a gradual shift of responsibility to the user.

What companies expect from a “Mac as an option” strategy

On the question of benefits, the answer was clear.

The strongest expected benefit is higher employee satisfaction and productivity. This factor clearly outweighs other aspects.

The ability to attract young talent and building a modern corporate image ranked next. The Mac strategy as a choice is therefore also seen as an employer branding tool.

Easier user support followed. The reduction of security exceptions came last, showing that the main motivation is not to circumvent security, but to increase efficiency while maintaining a controlled framework.

Mac for developers and DevOps teams

The Mac is not just a tool for creative professions today. Martin Kup from Vodafone explained the experience of a corporate developer.

A key theme was optimising the working environment and finding a balance between safety and flexibility. Development teams need a controlled but non-restrictive environment. The modern enterprise model must therefore integrate security in a way that is transparent and predictable.
